Tips and tricks

dsc_9977A few years back (it was 2012), I had a problem with my gas stove. Every time I cooked with it, or lit a few burners to warm up the kitchen in icy winter nights, the flames would produce an acrid, carbony smell. Very unpleasant. Cleaning the burners, changing the gas bottle, lowering the flame… nothing worked. A half-hour on the Internet revealed the source of the smell: If an apartment is being renovated nearby, the fumes from the paint caused gas burners in the vicinity to start smelling strangely… And there it was. Work was going on in the the neighboring building. A few weeks later, when the work stopped, so did the smells from the gas stove.

This little story just to illustrate how handy it is to have some convenient information. Mostly about Geneva and the environs, but not only.  If I run into a pleasant café, some commercial enterprise, a museum, or go on a nice excursion, I’ll put it up for you.
